Effective October 3, 2026.
What we collect
- Your sign-in: a Sign in with Apple identifier (we never see your password), and the name you enter, with an emoji you pick.
- Your videos: the landscape videos you film each month, shrunk to 1080p on your phone, plus their filming time, length and size. Home Reels reads your Photos library to find them; it never changes or deletes anything there.
- Where they were filmed: the town or area of each video (from the location your camera saved with it), so the movie can show it under the date when you turn the location stamp on. Your family can see and edit each clip's place; the stamp itself is off by default.
- How you use the movies: which clips you keep, trim or share; where you stopped watching, so your Apple TV can pick up there.
- Your devices: a push-notification identifier for each phone, and, when you send feedback, the app version and device model, with your email if you add it.
Why
To make each month's movie, show it to your family, and tell you when something needs you (uploads to finish, clips to share, a month being locked). We don't use your data for advertising, and we don't sell it.
Who can see it
The members of your family see the clips you've shared, the movies, and your name and emoji. Clips you haven't shared are yours alone. Nobody outside your family can reach your videos: they're stored privately and served through signed links that expire within hours (a share link you create yourself expires after 7 days).
Where it's kept
Videos and movies are stored with Cloudflare (R2); accounts, families and clip details are stored with Google (Firebase, in the United States); movies are made on Google Cloud machines that hold the clips only while they work. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security commitments.
How long
Clips stay while a month can still be edited. A clip you remove is deleted the same night; when a month is locked, its clips are deleted and the finished movie stays. Deleting your account deletes your profile, takes your clips out of every month, and asks Apple to end your sign-in with Home Reels. Feedback you sent stays, without your name.
Your choices
You control Photos access in iOS Settings, notifications there too, and Wi-Fi-only uploads, the location stamp, and your family in the app. You can leave a family or delete your account from Settings at any time.
Children
Home Reels is for adults managing a family's videos. Family members may film children; those videos are visible only to the family.
Contact
Write to support@homereels.app with any question or request about your data, or use Settings › Support › Send feedback in the app. You can see, change or delete your data in the app at any time; for anything else, write to us and we'll answer within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date above changes too, and the app tells you about anything that matters.
