What does Home Reels do?
Every month, Home Reels gathers the videos your family filmed on their iPhones and turns them into one movie: every clip in the order it was filmed, with a title, date stamps and transitions. You watch it on your iPhone, on your Apple TV, or share a link.
Which videos go in?
Landscape videos filmed with the phone's own camera during that month. Portrait videos, screen recordings and videos saved from other apps are left out; each month's Your clips screen lists them under Not included, where you can add any of them with +, and Settings › Which videos can switch the filtering off altogether. Nothing is ever deleted from your Photos library.
Who sees my videos?
Only your family, and only the clips you've shared. New clips are private to you until you review them on Your clips and tap Share. Videos are stored privately in the cloud and reached through short-lived signed links; nothing is public.
What is a family?
The people whose videos make the movies: your household, or whoever you invite. Each person is in one family. Invite someone from Settings › Family with a link that works for 7 days; they join every month from then on.
How much storage do we have?
Each family has 1 TB. Videos are shrunk to 1080p on your phone before they upload (HDR is kept), so a busy month takes a few gigabytes. Settings › Family shows how much is used. When it's full, new videos wait until you remove clips or lock a month.
What does Lock do?
When nobody plans more edits to a month, anyone can lock it. The family is told and has 24 hours to cancel; then the final 1080p movie is made, the clips leave the cloud to free storage, and the month can't be edited anymore. Locked months play the finished file.
What happens when I remove a clip?
It leaves that month's movie, and its file leaves the cloud that night. Your phone keeps the video, so you can add it again from Your clips anytime.
Why does Home Reels want access to all my photos?
To find the videos you film each month without you picking them one by one. It reads videos only; it never changes or deletes anything in Photos.
Does it use my mobile data?
Uploads use Wi-Fi only unless you turn that off in Settings › Uploads. Watching a movie streams it, like any video app.
How do I delete my account?
Settings › Account › Delete account. Your clips leave every month, you leave your family, and your profile and sign-in are deleted. It can't be undone.
